Celebrating Our Volunteers During Volunteer Appreciation Week

As we mark Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to take the opportunity to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who are at the heart of Healthwatch North Northamptonshire.

Volunteers play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission of ensuring that local people's voices are heard and that their experiences help shape health and social care services across North Northamptonshire. Their commitment, enthusiasm and generosity make a real difference to the communities we serve.

Healthwatch North Northamptonshire is the independent champion for people using health and social care services. We listen to local people's experiences, provide information and signposting, raise awareness of people's rights, and use community feedback to help influence improvements in services. Our work helps ensure that local health and care providers understand what matters most to the people who rely on them.

None of this would be possible without the support of our volunteers.

Throughout the year, our volunteers help us engage with residents in communities across North Northamptonshire. They attend local events, speak to members of the public, answer questions and share information about health and social care services and people's rights when accessing them. Their presence helps us reach a wider range of people and ensures that more local voices are represented in the work we do.

Our volunteers have also played an important role in supporting the delivery of free NHS Health Checks. By helping to promote these opportunities and engaging with local residents, they have contributed to increasing awareness of preventative healthcare and encouraging people to take positive steps towards improving their health and wellbeing.

One of the most valuable aspects of volunteering with Healthwatch North Northamptonshire is the opportunity to help people better understand their rights. Whether speaking to residents at community events, providing information about local services, or helping individuals find the support they need, our volunteers empower people to make informed decisions about their care and wellbeing.

The contribution our volunteers make extends far beyond the practical support they provide. They bring local knowledge, lived experience, compassion and a genuine desire to help others. Their conversations with residents help us identify emerging issues, understand community concerns and gather feedback that can influence positive change in health and social care services.

Volunteer Appreciation Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate these contributions, but our gratitude extends throughout the entire year. Every conversation held, every question answered and every hour given helps strengthen our connection with local communities and supports our goal of ensuring that people have a voice in the services they use.

To all our volunteers, past and present, thank you. Your dedication, passion and commitment to supporting local people are invaluable. You help us reach more communities, hear more voices and make a greater impact across North Northamptonshire.

We are proud to work alongside such a dedicated team of volunteers and look forward to continuing this important work together.
